The Washington Coal Club (WCC) is pleased to announce its April 13, 2005 luncheon meeting will feature the Honorable Branko Terzic, Global Regulatory Policy Leader in the Energy Resources Group of Deloitte.
Branko Terzic is currently Global Regulatory Policy Leader in the Energy Resources Group of Deloitte in the United States ( Washington, DC). During the past three years he also served as Regional Managing Partner for the Resources, Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group of Deloitte & Touche Central Europe ( Prague, Czech Republic). A former Member of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (1990-1993) and Commissioner on the State of Wisconsin Public Service Commission (1981-1986), Terzic has also been Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the former public utility holding company Yankee Energy Services, Inc. (parent of the distribution gas utility Yankee Gas Services Company and acquired in 1999 by Northeast Utilities, Inc.). In his current position he is an international consultant to corporations, multilateral lending agencies and governments on energy, infrastructure and network industry issues.
In 1995 he was elected a Fellow ("FRSA") of The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in London, England. He is active in energy and regulatory organizations as an Associate of the James C. Bonbright Center for Utilities at the University of Georgia (Athens, GA), founding member of the Energy Advisory Board for Battelle Institute (Columbus, OH), member of the board of the Center for the Advancement of Energy Markets (Washington, DC), member of the Energy Bar Association, individual member of The Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques (CIGRE), a member IEEE Power Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Earlier in his career he has been: managing director in Arthur Anderson Economic Consulting LLP, group vice-president of AUS Consultants, partner in Terzic & Mayer Public Utility Consultants, and vice president of Associated Utility Services Inc. He began his career in public utility valuation with The American Appraisal Company and served as Special Investigations Engineer for the Wisconsin Electric Power Company, both in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During his career he has been a US delegate to Trans-Atlantic Business Dialogue, a frequent speaker at energy industry events and has lectured at the Departments of Energy and State. Consulting assignments have included projects for Russia’s UES, World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, US Agency for International Development and the Inter-American Development Bank. His articles and commentary have appeared in numerous industry publications including; Public Utility Fortnightly, Power Executive, Deregulation Watch, Natural Gas, Oil & Gas weekly, The Desk and others. He has been quoted in The New York Times, Washington Post, USA TODAY, Bloomberg, and Reuters, and he has appeared on CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight Show, CNBC Power Lunch, PBS’sNightly Business Report, McNeil-Lehrer News Hour and The White House Chronicle television programs in the US. In Serbia and Montenegro he has been featured on the television programs of Voice of America and Nedelni Telegraph and weekly magazines Pechat and Nedelnji Telegraph and daily newspapers Gradjanski List and Dnevnik.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and was honored by UWM in 1999 as University Distinguished Graduate. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin. Mr. Terzic served as a Captain (Field Artillery) in the Wisconsin Army National Guard and US Army Reserve.
