An Industry Initiative to Accelerate the Deployment
of Advanced Coal-based Generation Plants

The Washington Coal Club is pleased to announce its October 13, 2004 meeting will feature John Novak, Executive Director, Federal and Industry Activities, Environment and Generation Sectors of EPRI.

John has over twenty five years experience in the environmental field. His expertise covers a wide range of issues including air, water, solid and hazardous waste, electric and magnetic fields, Superfund and global climate change. Before joining EPRI in 2001, he was Director of Environment Activities at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), with eighteen years experience in managing numerous environmental issues for the electric utility industry. He was the EEI issue manager for global climate change and was the lead electric power industry representative in U.S. and international discussions on global climate change.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering, both from Manhattan College.
