Controlling Mercury from Coal Fired Power – The Challenges
The Washington Coal Club is pleased to announce its July 10, 2002 meeting will feature Dr. Larry Monroe, Program Manager for Pollution Control Research for Southern Company,
Located in Birmingham, Dr. Monroe manages a group that develops, evaluates, and solves problems for pollution control processes for all Southern’s fossil-fired generating fleet. Dr. Monroe has over twenty years experience in pollution control and combustion of coal, and has spent the last eighteen months focused exclusively on control of mercury emissions from coal-fired power plant. He serves as an alternate member of the EPA MACT Working Group convened to make recommendations to the Agency on mercury control regulations. Dr. Monroe holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
